Customer Review: Somewhat disappointed
My main criteria for buying this coffeemaker was the fact that it had a thermal carafe. I was under the impression that I was ordering a black coffeemaker, but the one I received was white. As a result the water line markings are in white and very difficult to read. Also it is somewhat awkward to fill. The carafe lid is not easy to insert correctly despite the directional arrows. Honestly, the only reason I’m keeping it is because the only other coffeemakers with stainless steel carafes I can find are way too expensive because of all the “bells and whistles” on them. I just want a regular coffeemaker with a thermal carafe to keep the coffee hot without turning bitter by sitting on a hot plate.

Customer Review: Fine, Fast, Hot, Small
This fine looking little device is the second Delonghi 4-cup coffee maker that I have owned. The first had the dewar flask carafe and no warmer and the coffee wasn’t really hot enough. Lots of microwave action for second cups with that one. This one has the glass carafe and a warmer; MUCH Better. It has the permanent filter but I put in a paper filter anyway.

The first lasted nearly three years before the switch failed, more than acceptable for this inexpensive and reliable little unit.

It makes coffee fast and strong and just the right amount for a quick big mug to wake up and another after my morning dog walk. Later mid-morning coffee is managed by making a fresh pot of great tasting coffee (I prefer Community Club Dark Roast).

One has a tendency to grip the carafe handle with ones fingers and rest ones thumb above on the flip-up lid lever (This is similar in sprit to riding the brake in your vehicle). The effect is to raise the lid just enough for the coffee to pour out all around the lip of the carafe and the result is spilled coffee while pouring. Do not do that.

Like all makers with the steal-a-cup feature, if one only partially inserts the carafe then the valve will not open and coffee and grounds will overflow. Do not do that either.

I would recommend it to tho others (I have) and I would buy it again (I did.)
Customer Review: Too Hot
I would not recommend buying this coffee maker. Getting the water into the reservoir is a clumsy feat at best. But worse, when pouring the last third of the hot coffee out of the pot, the lid falls open allowing the steam to scald your knuckles. I wish I could have gotten another Krups 4-cup but they’ve stopped making them.

Customer Review: New to Krups
My wife and I are medical students and therefore avid coffee drinkers. Having recently gotten married, we were looking for a coffee maker that would be perfect! We thought we had found it in this Krups model. Below I am going to share the Pros and Cons about this model in hopes that it will help others make a good decision. Trust us, we realize how important coffee is in the morning and throughout the day!

Pros: Good strong coffee, fast brewing time, coffee comes out hot, and the heating unit works very well at keeping the coffee hot.

Cons: As some have mentioned the carafe drips almost every time it is poured (frustrating!). Also, after pouring water into the back of the unit several times a bubble formed in the tube that measures the water level rendering it unusable (not a huge deal but annoying). Finally, the back of the unit that one lifts to pour in the water now doesn’t fit flush with the back. I think it most likely bowed from the heat (again, annoying).

In summary, I like this coffee maker. It really does make good coffee! I have thoroughly enjoyed the important qualities of this coffee maker…namely hot, strong, good tasting coffee. The few cons, though, make this a good coffee maker and not a great one.

This is a great coffee maker…I love my coffee stronger than my husband. So this little gadget is wonderful….I simply add more coffee grounds to the regular pot that I made for my husband and I have a wonderful cup of stronger coffee. I even use it when I need a cup of coffee and do not want to make a pot of coffee. Would recommend to others.

My husband loves the Melitta plastic filter cup, but we actually had to return the one we bought here (the mug broke during shipping), and I ended up finding just the plastic filter cup part at my local grocery for under $3!
